Jesus knew he was about to leave the disciples and spoke these words to comfort them. However Jesus also knew he would be with them always, so he reminded the disciples to ‘take heart’. This is equally relevant to us today; he is our comfort!
These simple words ‘take heart’ are so powerful. They are a key to unlocking the promise of God and living with this as our focus, not our troubles.
The promise is that Jesus died so we can have freedom, and this is forever, unlike anything we struggle with in the world. It reminds us of His power, His love, and His plan for our lives - which is more than we could ask for or imagine (Jer 29:11).It is up to us to ‘take’ it, to unlock the peace and comfort that God is for us. We can choose to ‘take heart’ in this promise and live in confidence that His love is more than enough!
Will you choose to take heart in his promises today?
